If you are a medical card holder you are entitled to a Maternity Cash Grant from the Health Service Executive on the birth of your child.
Maternity Cash Grant:
A Maternity Cash Grant of 10.16 is payable in respect of each confinement to women with full eligibility (i.e. Medical Card Holders).
The grant is a once off cash payment to mothers of newborns and should be applied for within three months of confinement. In exceptional cases, the three months rule may be ignored, e.g. if the applicant did not know about the grant or was unable to apply due to medical confinement etc.
